| AeroMag is
a device that you simply snap onto standard aircraft filter, immediately
turning the standard filter into a powerful magnetic oil filtration
system. After many months of R&D and extensive successful testing
of the AeroMag unit on a SX300 IO540 engine, AeroMag is now available
to all experimental pilots. (FAA Certification is expected within
the coming months).
AeroMag magnetic filtration device cleans engine oil continually
by removing harmful metal contaminants from the oil, through a sophisticated
and unique magnetic filtration process. By cleaning the oil continually,
AeroMag filtration unit can effectively extend engine life and reduce
maintenance costs.
Independent laboratory tests have shown that the standard aircraft
filter is not effective in trapping particles smaller than 40-microns
in size. The smaller particles easily pass through the standard
filter element and contine to circulate throughout your engines
lubrication system. Unfortunately, it is these smaller metal particles
that contribute the most damage to your engines critical components.
It has long been known that metal particles circulating in an engine's
lubrication system can cause unnecessary wear and premature failure
of the engine. Information obtained from SAE
Paper # 881825 (Acrobat).
Even if the standard oil filter could be made to trap these smaller
particles, the oil flow rate would be so restricted it would not
allow a sufficient amount of oil to circulate throughout your engine
to provide adequate lubrication and cooling. AeroMag effectively
solves this problem. Not only does AeroMag trap and hold ferrous
metal particles less than 2-microns in size against the inner wall
of the filter canister, it does so without restricting the flow
of the lubricating oil through the filter media.
AeroMag’s design starts with unique, precision-ground and
arced neodymium magnets which are aligned in a series of alternating
polarity elements to generate the greatest amount of holding force.
This gives each AeroMag unit unparalleled holding power against
the flow of lubrication circulation.
A critical design feature of the AeroMag device is the placement
of the magnet segments onto a special steel flux member. The flux
member does two jobs; it short circuits the outward magnetism blocking
any stray magnetism from interfering with the instruments or components
on your airplane and it also drastically increases the magnetic
energy by redirecting power back into the oil filter, where you
really need it. Review
the Independent Stray Flux Test Report (Acrobat).
How AeroMag Circumvents the Wear Chain
As shown in the chart below you will notice a drastic reduction
in the steel particle count in you oil test when using the AeroMag.
You will also notice a similar reduction in the particle count of
the non-ferrous metals. The reason for the reduction in non-magnetic
soft metals is that the steel which the AeroMag removed can no longer
rip and tear at the soft metals in your engine. Therefore, the count
of soft metal particles is reduced and goes hand–in–hand
with the reduction of the steel particles in the oil. A new basis
for measuring engine wear is now established.

Peace of Mind
The aircraft owner/operator, always concerned with oil cleanliness
can rest assured that with the addition of AeroMag’s Magnetic
Oil Filtration System, the oil is cleaner than ever before possible.
If you plan to transport
your AeroMag inside your aircraft, be sure to attach it to a filter
to eliminate any stray flux which could affect instruments.
